How we see children

At International Montessori Schools, children are free to learn and discover at their own pace. Our faithful implementation of the Montessori philosophy helps them grow holistically, building skills on social and intellectual levels. The method has been used for over 100 years and has stood the test of time and research. We serve children from 6 weeks until 6 years of age.

Each of our five IMSchools locations offers a stimulating, child-centered environment. Montessori education at an early age gives children chances to develop their intellectual, physical, social and emotional potential. Teachers encourage and guide children toward independence and a love of learning.

Our teachers are highly trained individuals with backgrounds as diverse as those of our students. The Montessori Method has been used for over 100 years in cultures all over the world, and it has stood the test of time and research. Each of our five IMSchools locations follows the same approach.

What you notice in practice

Teachers encourage and guide children toward independence, following each child's readiness. Montessori materials are arranged for children to choose and repeat. A teacher might sit on the floor beside a child instead of calling from across the room. Small groups keep lessons close and calm.

Each of our locations offers a stimulating, child-centered environment. Rooms are arranged so materials sit within reach and children move freely between activities. The day moves at the child's pace, with long stretches for focused work instead of a bell. Meals, rest and outdoor time give the day its shape.

How we work with families

At pickup, a teacher can tell you what your child chose to work on, what held their attention, and where they needed a hand. Questions are welcome in person at drop-off and pickup, or by phone during office hours. We keep the conversation practical, so you leave knowing how the day went.

A new child usually visits with a parent before their first full day. We start with short stretches and add time as your child settles, keeping the same teacher nearby. You can call during the day to check in. It often takes a few weeks for everyone to find the rhythm.
